PIONEER presented two restored cultural heritage sites at the exhibition “Import Substitution in Restoration Materials and Technologies. Conservation of Cultural Heritage”, which took place at the Vinzavod Centre for Contemporary Art last week.

Restoration works with a total value of about 540 million rubles were carried out within the framework of the implementation of the LIFE-Botanical Garden-2 residential complex built in the Sviblovo district.

One of the objects with an area of 327 square meters, the Management Office, built in 1819-1822 according to architect T.G. Prostakov’s design, is a 34.5-meter high tower cannon. The work was based on the surviving drawings and sketches, including the casting of the original bell, decorative elements on the façade and the recreation of the spire. The brickwork of the lost porticos with pediments and decorative elements of the facades was reconstructed. The external walls of the first and second tiers of the tower are bricked up and plastered, and the third tier is lined with wood. PIONEER used massive blocks of white stone for the lanterns and the fence plinth. The cost of the site’s design, survey, and restoration work was over RUB 190 million.

Another building, measuring 1926 square metres, was originally a two-storey stone structure built in 1821-1822 in the Classical style and was part of the complex of I. G. Kozhevnikov’s Cloth Factory. Modern architectural solutions have helped to adapt the building to the function of a kindergarten for 120 children. During the restoration of the façades, PIONEER reinforced the brickwork with special restorative mixtures, and damaged areas were restored, including the face of the brick and white stone and decorative elements. The cost of the site’s design, survey, and restoration work was over RUB 350 million.

Both objects of the cultural heritage of the former I.G. Kozhevnikov’s cloth factory ensemble were sent to the Moscow Restoration competition in the nomination for the best organisation of repair and restoration works.
